Maupin’s protaganist (who is a thiny veiled version of Maupin, himself)worries that he will be discovered as a literary fraud. Good heavens – has anyone ever considered Maupin “literature?” Why didn’t my gay lit class in college inform me of this as we were reading Balwin and Isherwood? Maupin wrote a gossipy article for a newspaper and had them anthologized – hardly literary at all. This book was dreadful – no structure, maudlin sentimentality, plotless menaderings, a complete lack of credibility and a self-absorbed unlikable protaganist. If you want entertainment, read “Tales of the City.” If you want literature, skip Maupin altogether! Dreadful, Maudlin, Poorly Crafted and Self-Absorbed!

I bought my Kindle in April of this year and I just love it. Wish I could have pruchased it at it’s new lower price! Sigh, always a day late and a dollar short as the old saying goes! But, that said, my Kindle is my best buddy now. It goes every where with me, I just love that I decide to read a new book or series and the longest amount of time it takes to get the new book(s) on my Kindle depends on how fast I can place the order! Once I send in my request, instant gratification!

I will say that the only stumbling block to Kindle ownership has been that a few of the books I wanted were part of the pubisher/amazon problem with pricing and thus not available right away. Still have that problem with some preorders I would like to do, but hopefully by the time the books are ready to come out, this will be resolved. The books that I really wanted for the Kindle in the beginning did come out in kindle format finally so I have had some satisfaction there (bought the books in hard copy first, then repurchased in kindle format to be able to keep it with me, so double costs on a couple).

I love that I can pre-order some of the books that I want and know that they will be there in the morning when I wake up on their release date! My Kindle is easy to ready, really like it’s functions, but as a fairly new Kindle owner I have not tried everything yet but plan on it as time goes by. I like it’s speed in page turning and also selection of itmes already on the Kindle, I like how easy it is to read, especially after a long day on the computer, to read this screen is great, easy on the eyes and with adjustable fonts it is even easier. My family is about to disown me because I am reading so much more! By carrying it with me, if I have to wait for anything (dr. appts, etc.) I just whip out my Kindle and read.

Definitely a 5 star item and worth anyone’s purchase. You will not be disappointed and with the new pricing, you should grab one today!

I’m migrating from a Palm handheld to the iPod Touch 3g, 32gb mostly for the Wi-Fi capabilities but also due to Palm’s shaky financial fortunes.

It does everything as advertised but I’m finding there’s a bit more of a learning curve to the device than I anticipated.

I’m a PC user and many of the functions MUST be done via the iTunes app whether you want to use it or not. I’m finding the iTunes app to be a bit of a challenge but expect to eventually work my way thru the maze.

Have not yet been able to import my Palm Calendar, Contacts, or To-Do list over to this device but have been successful in importing most of that data from my Yahoo account which I’ve been using as a Palm data ‘backup’.

Purchased online from Amazon.com at an excellent price (no taxes) and it arrived in 48 hours.

Am very pleased with the purchase so far.
