I have been on a serious diet and wanted an accurate scale. After reading reviews and descriptions, I purchased this one. I am completely satisfied. The only small inconvenience is that we have a small bathroom and have to store the scale on its side when not in use. This requires it to readjust each time we use it. In other words, I step on the scale, it gives a weight that is a few pounds high, I gasp, it shows a C for correcting, and goes blank. I step off, wait a few seconds and step on again. This time it gives the correct weight and I sigh happily. If we didn’t have to store it sideways, there would be no need for the correction. It is attractive and precise, and I am so pleased with it that I am giving it to a relative who wants a great bathroom scale as a Christmas present!

It seems everyone is so busy giving content reviews that always seem to entail entirely of the repetitive explaining of the books plot (which, by the way, anyone can read in back of the actual book or on the Amazon — or any other book store for that matter — expert. You really don’t have to keep typing up the plot of the story over an over. Just give your OPINION!). Be that as it may, there is still no mention of anyone’s take of the actual physical item. If there is, after about the 25th review, I just got tired of looking. It just seems so hard to find reviews of the actual physical product (be it books, movies, whatever!), which can be frustrating because sometimes I’d like to know if the more expensive collector/limited editions are really worth their prices. So anyway, this will be my quick 2-cents about the Collector’s edition of this book, with the 2-star rating based on the physical item and not the actual story. This review will also coincide with the rest of the collection as they have all been made the same way.

For such a widely popular story, I was really expecting a lot more in the making of this edition (especially considering the price). Sure, it looks nice and pretty with the plastic on (or in the stock photos), but almost as soon as you take the plastic off, the wear and tear starts. Almost any movement will create some kind of blemish on the case, which is also not as sturdy as I thought it would be; very flimsy cardboard indeed. I’ve also noticed the placement of the spine printing is off-center a lot. The first one I bought (that came with the case completely damaged, by the way) had the spine printing so far to the right, it almost started wrapping around to the front! I guess some were made with better care than others because I have seen some that are aligned correctly. As for the actual book inside, it’s ok. After ordering three cables, I read the reviews more closely and got a little bit scared. They came faster than expected, and I replaced a Phillips $[...] 6ft HDMI cable from Walmart, with the $[...] cable. When I inspected the cable thru the bag, it had the HDMI logo on the connector, was gold plated, and also said it was 1.3b. All of this to me meant I got a decent cable. I hooked it up and the picture is great. So I got 3 for $[...] bucks to replace one overpriced cable. Im extremely happy!

It works great, good suction. The on/off switch is located on the body instead of the handle. This makes you reach down to stop, which is not good in tight spaces. With one hand holding the handle and the other holding the cord, you can suck up the wrong things easily. The cord does not go up high on the handle, it is high on the body so you have to hold in one hand to keep it out of the way. You have to assemble the handle to the body when it arrives. No big deal, but you can tell that Hoover is saving a few bucks on assembly and shipping size which results in a inconvenient switch and cord. It is light weight and handles well. I got a great price on Amazon.com.

I really like the Omron Digital Pocket Pedometer. It comes with everything you need to set it up (including a “screwdriver” and battery) and is extremely easy to set up. You have to measure your stride length, set the time, and your weight but this is all easy to do. The pedometer is a bit large, but very sturdy, and the display is very easy to read with large numbers. Because it is so sturdy it counts your steps very accurately – other pedometers I’ve had jingled about quite a bit and would measure “steps” at the slightest motion (even while sitting down) – not so with this pedometer. Another thing I love about it is its versatility – besides clipping it to your pants or belt you can place it in the upper front pocket of your shirt, the front pocket of your pants, or even attach it to a bag you are carrying. I’ve compared the pedometer’s accuracy to other programs such as Wii’s Walk It Out and it is very accurate. Finally, I love the fact that the pedometer not only counts normal footsteps and mileage but the aerobic footsteps and time – it is a major incentive to make sure I get my daily aerobic exercise done.

I highly recommend the Omron Digital Pocket Pedometer.
