This cable did exactly what I needed it to do (hook my new HD TV to my DVR), and at less than 10% of what I would have paid at Best Buy for the same type of cable.

For what I paid, the product was satisfactory and in excellent condition. However, the Shipping & Handling fee was almost the price of the book which will be a consideration the next time. It took a long time to receive the book – almost a month.

After exploring a few options for some new SDHC cards for a few cameras, I opted for the Class 6, 4 GB cards from Transcend. But first … I wanted to see a comparison of what a Class 6 card would do compared to a standard SD and a Class 2.

I looked it up on the internet and found the Class 6 cards would load and process information faster than the standard but not as fast as the Class X or the higher numbered cards, but was a full 50% less expensive. Transcend (the maker / distributor) was rated in the high middle of reliability and pricing. These were in my budget and since receiving, have been my primary chips for both of my Lumix / Leica cameras.

They did what I wanted in a price range which was very fair and competitive. So far, I really enjoy using these and have no complaints or other observations.

As a 50-year-old man, I know I’m hardly the intended demographic for “Twilight.” But my daughter had absolutely inhaled all four books in this series, so I decided I should at least read one of them to see what the attraction was. And — who knows? — maybe I might even enjoy it.

I’d often heard “Twilight” described as a “vampire book,” but that is really misleading. Sure, it does have vampires, which help add mystery and occasional flurries of action, but in its heart and soul “Twilight” is a simply a teenage romance. The two lovers, human Bella and vampire Edward, fall in love against all odds — just like Romeo and Juliet, just like Maria and Tony in “Westside Story,” just like many a star-crossed pair throughout the history of literature.

The attraction of this book to girls can be summed up in one word: Edward. He is, in Bella’s word, “godlike.” He is impossibly handsome, intelligent, mysterious, caring, and good at EVERYTHING. He comes to Bella’s rescue multiple times. Edward also does something rarely seen at that age (teenage boys, pay attention!) — he shows a genuine interest in Bella, asking all about her and actually listening to the answers.

I’m sure many girls who like the book also identify with Bella’s feeling of being an outsider, of being different than the crowd. (Sometimes I wonder: If everyone feels like an outsider, who are the insiders?)

While it’s obvious why Bella adores Edward, it’s not so clear why he is interested in her (besides the fact that her smell is alluring to a vampire). She is a disappointingly shallow character with virtually no interests outside her infatuation with Edward. Sometimes it’s hard to take her immature hand-wringing (He looked at me! He didn’t look at me! Why isn’t he looking at me?)

Author Stephenie Meyer writes smoothly and clearly, but the book needs some trimming. “Twilight” bogs down about halfway through, after Edward’s secret become clear and he and Bella settle in to overlong conversations fed by an un

Found this one and the next higher model on CR (featured as a best buy). It was hard to justify paying double for a headlight, HEPA filter, and bag-full indicator, so we went with this one. We’re very glad we did, as all the positive reviews are justified. It’s simple, not too loud, and picks up dirt very well on both carpet and tile.

Today about Small for Savvy Tax

I bought this 8gb card for my new Sony DSC-TX7 which takes photos and records 1920×1080i hd video in avchd format, and is one of the few Sony cameras not limited to Sony memory stick types. I contemplated buying a Sony card which is more expensive but after researching came to the conclusion this less expensive card would offer good performance. So far it works great. Writing and reading speed for video and photos has been excellent, no issues. As long as it remains reliable it’s a good buy.

Diligence Tax Due lies

The HDMI cable which I ordered was of good quality and served my needs well as I recently purchased a 46 inch Samsung HDTV with 3 HDMI ports. My only dislike was the delivery process. I didn’t receive an email with tracking info (as promised) so I was unable to track my order. As a result, I ended up calling Amazon after several days went by, but it did arrive soon after. I would order again, but would really like to know the product is in transit, especially if paying for expedited shipping…
